An investigative panel made up of U.S. Coast Guard and Minerals Management Service officials will hold its sixth day of hearings into the cause of the BP oil spill.
The panel has been hearing from some of the 115 survivors of the Deepwater Horizon crew about the events leading up to the disaster. They have also questioned BP and Transocean officials who oversaw some of the operations, as well as Coast Guard accident responders and regulators and inspectors from the MMS and other agencies that survey foreign flagged vessels. The Deepwater Horizon operated under the flag of the Marshall Islands.
Today's witnesses are scheduled to be Micah Sandell, a Transocean crane operator aboard Deepwater Horizon; Paul Meinhart, a Transocean motor operator on the rig; Charles Credeur, a Dril-Quip service technician; Micah Burgess, a Transocean, driller; Allen Seraile, a Transocean assistant driller; and Heber Morales, a Transocean roustabout; and David Sims, a BP drilling and cementing operations manager who was visiting the rig on a V.I.P. tour when the incident occurred.
The hearings will take a break after today until July, although specific dates are not yet set.
