Energy Drilldown provides a synopsis of overnight activity with brief market commentary from industry professionals.

In trading on Globex this morning, July crude oil prices was down .52 to $74.09 at 8:10 AM EST. July heating oil prices were down .78 cents to 2.031/gallon. Gasoline prices were down .62 cents to 2.075/gallon. Natural gas was down 4.6 cents to $4.64/mmBtu.
Oil is continuing to drop now that the non farm payroll has come out showing a 430,000 job increase, far below consensus expectations. This is very discouraging in the wake of a positive inventory report yesterday. BP announced that it has placed the cap on the leaking well and that after some adjustments it may be able to capture 90% of the flow. We are keeping our fingers crossed, especially since the preparation for the cap has already exacerbated the leak rate.
