Dr. Jane Goodall was one of my first inspirations to study animal behaviour and biology in general. And in some very interesting way she reminds me a lot of my mom. Breaking the mold and forging a different path. My mom became a medical doctor with specializations in obstetrics and pediatrics at a time when it was not really considered appropriate (1930's). At Fifty, she decided it was time to learn to fly an airplane. She logged a few thousand hours - non-too shabby. We used to joke that she would be doing arcobatics until she was Eighty.
Dr. Jane also remembers her mother fondly - taught her wisely, saying "If you really want something and work hard - and take advantage of opportunity, and never give, you will find a way". Universally the most important aspect to defining one's life and finding that sweet spot. And Dr. Jane's Institute has programs in place to widely educate those and many other sustainability principles to school children as well as to University audiences. She is in town for such a gathering October 24, and provides the following VIDEO Interview & message to engage the Calgary community.
