UPDATED: Wolverine: Chasing The Phantom (PBS Nature Video)

October 20, 2012 ~ I had the pleasant surprise to be able to view this full program on PBS tonight.  A reminder of the power and purpose in nature's design.

  • Doug Chadwick, a fellow biologist, though I do not know him, I know well his work including books and photographs - talking about Gulo gulo - the glutton of gluttons
  • Wolverine's Credo: "Go hard, go high, go step, and never back down, not from a grizzly bear or least from a mountain."
  • 3ft long and 30lbs with large paws and long claws
  • 4900 vertical feet in 90 minutes ~ to the top of the highest peak in the Park ~ at the end of January
  • 'a ton of attitude' ~ enough to look at a grizzly bear and tell them they are a wuss!
  • bears sleep all winter, wolverines are made for winter
  • the wolverine's essence is wilderness ~ they have special energy
  • contrary to popular belief, wolverines are very social, family oriented
