As this story continues to develop, I am ever more challenged by the realities it presents. The war on terrorism is not one that cannot be won. Though I guess I also believe that any war cannot be won. Being right just isn't that important. Regardless of that belief or value standard, this situation is remarkable. Like so many other situations in today's process of exposing the marginal sides of our modern world. The Liars, Cheaters, and Stealers will be flushed out, not all of them, but many. But I suppose what I find most disturbing is these figures of society, highly respected, with great earned trust, and otherwise seemingly good people doing good things. In this case, the connection with Sri Lanka and the Tamil Tigers, and now word that he had already been marked and watched in terrorist circles. Needless to say but as with most of this type of "news", we're probably only seeing the surface, that there are many more of these "operations" in existence, globally. For me, it continues to build support for me and my thoughts of a permanent mountainside perch from which to watch the mushroom cloud form.
