Here in Calgary we have had such a wonderful and pleasant introduction to an early spring. The weekend saw temperatures soaring to the mid-teens (daily avg -1.9C). This is quite unusual to me and my twenty-five plus years in this city. It can't help but make one wonder when we will get our next winterized blow. It isn't a matter of if but when. And then I read of the news that Cheery Blossoms in Tokyo have bloomed six days in advance. Reminds me of the 26 days LATER that the MayDay trees bloomed (Also called a Bird Cherry Tree)
Japanese macaques eat cherry blossom at Tokyo's Ueno zoo. The zoo incorperated a cherry tree into the macaques habitat as the sprouts and flowers are their favorite foods. Japan's meteorological agency announced that cherry trees bloomed in Tokyo area, six days earlier than previous years. -- PHOTO: AFP
