This review is being undertaken to examine the Canadian regulatory landscape, and gain a sense of how well prepared we are for a Deepwater Horizon event in Arctic waters. As noted in an earlier post, the review is an expanded version of the SSRW requirement review in relation to BP/Exxon's interest in offshore lands of the Canadian Beaufort. An event of a Macondo well in GoM-like blowout in the Arctic would have significantly more complications and challenges than the warm open seas of the GoM. I look forward to the progress this review will make.
