Chartbook Du Jour: China By The Numbers

By Dian L. Chu, EconForecast

The following is a slide presentation summarizing a look back at various economic indices and measures of China for the year 2010, plus some of
my observations, and thoughts regarding the country's path forward.

Extracted from the presentation:
  • China has to get the inflation problem under control - or risk civil and economic chaos;
  • China will be vigilant and will implement a combination of more aggressive action through 2011-2012;
  • shock waves should be expected in commodities and equity markets;
  • long term growth still intact, but next two years could be a real challenge.
But does China really care about inflation? Or are they solely focused on
GDP?
