Mother Nature ravaging local communities with flooding (CBC News)

I view the video collection below and the most striking aspect to me is the tremendous amount of energy that must have been released in that relatively brief moment, as compared to the years and ten's of millions of dollars needed to establish the community and its infrastructure.  Much of what was there, turned into rubble in less than 24hrs.  In the engineering business, we often say, it only takes technology - we can pretty much engineer anything.  In many ways that is true, that is, until it's not.  Kinda like the financial markets and their wonderful models.  Kinda like trading and markets, it works till it doesn't.  That worked awesome, until it didn't.  Also kinda where my head is at on climate models.  But I'll stop there.

Flash flooding near Sicamous, B.C., has washed out Highway 97A in two places, damaging several vehicles and cutting off road access and drinking water supplies to hundreds of residences.

Around 350 people in the area of Swansea Point and 2 Mile have been forced from their homes due to an evacuation order issued after two raging creeks jumped their banks over the weekend.
